Strengthen Your Position

Channels that by-pass levels can help you strengthen your position. These Channels also deal with difficulties that may emerge in particular Centres or Levels.

However, the first by-pass: CG7 - CG5, turns out to be impossible. Your selection and acceptance of incentives should not influence paying attention or joining in.

Flexibility-CG6 is part of functioning as a member of the staff community, and making the best of it. Being present, whether by paying attention or joining in, is a constant requirement aimed at your overall personal benefit. Incentives have no part to play in this. Nor does paying attention entitle, relieve or guide incentive choices directly.

The remaining bypasses should come naturally to you. They reinforce your position by enabling:

Greater Participation in work: CG6 CG4
Enhanced input to work: CG5 CG3
Better use of your energies at work: CG4 CG2
Deeper gratification from work: CG3 CG1

Tracking your position-CG4 ensures you can check your fit. Two dimensions of that fit are evident in the two Channels. If you are effectively setting an example-CG6S, you should discover that you are viewed (like it or not) as having leadership potential, even if not of a heroic or grand nature; while if you are effectively accepting instruction-CG6O, you should check that you are indeed perceived to be a good follower.

Progress within many, probably most, large organizations requires that you be assessed as both a «good leader » and a «good follower». The reverse holds as well: both setting an example and acceptance of instructions can alter the way you track your position.
